The former Director Army Public Relations , Brigadier General Fredrick Bini Chijuka (retired),has on Tuesday visited the Nigerian Army Headquarters (AHQ), Abuja.
While at the AHQ, the highly respected retired Army officer paid an office call on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya.
He thereafter visited the Directorate of Army Public Relations and was taken round by the Director Army Public Relations Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu where the former Director was introduced to the officers, soldiers and the civilian staff working under the Directorate.
The former senior retired officer was appointed Acting Army Public Relations from 1 September, 1979 to 16 July 1980 and also reappointed between 15 November 1987 to 2 August, 1993. He was also a pioneer Director of Defence Information.
He was one of the trailblazers in public relations practice in the military and the first to attain the rank of a Brigadier in the Directorate of Public Relations Nigerian Army.
The octogenarian practised public relations at the most trying times of military regimes in the 1980s and 1990s before he voluntarily retired from the Army in 1996.
