COAS charges troops to dismantle all terrorists’ hideouts in NE

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Faruk Yahaya has charged Nigerian Army troops to go to all the locations harbouring the marauding Boko Haram terrorists and obliterate all their hideouts.

Maj Gen Yahaya gave the charge when he visited the troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in Damaturu,Yobe state.

In a statement relayed to Enugu Reporters by the Director Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, said the COAS had on Saturday, “charged troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), to destroy all Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists’ enclaves in their various locations”.

He also acknowledged the milestone achievement recorded by the troops in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the zone and commended them for the feat achieved within the Area of Responsibility.

“He enjoined the troops to use wealth of experience and lessons learnt from the series of operations to destroy the remnants of marauding terrorists within their various locations”.

Gen Yahaya assured the troops of improved welfare and a new reward system for troops who perform gallantly in any operation.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East OPHK, Brigadier General Adamu Nura, while welcoming the COAS, briefed him on the operational engagements and challenges of the Sector.

He assured the COAS of of their commitment towards riding out terrorists activities in the zone.

Among those on the entourage of the COAS were the Chief of Operations (Army) Major General Ibrahim Yusuf and the Theatre Commander OPHK, Major General Christopher Musa.
