BREAKING NEWS: ASUP Suspends 65-Day strike.

The academic staff union of polytechnics (ASUP) has suspended her sixty five days old strike.

 This was made known in a release signed by the secretary general of ASUP, Shammah S. Kpanja.

According to him, the suspension of the ongoing strike is effective from Thursday 10th June, 2021.

In his words, “ this suspension is for a period of three months. Within which, it is expected that the government would have fulfilled all the items contained in the signed memorandum of action.”
 According to him, the union shall review this decision thereafter.

He added that the decision is supported by 74% vote of chapter congresses currently observing the strike.

Furthermore, he appreciated the Union’s leaders and her members for keeping faith with the strike action throughout its duration.

He assured them that the items contained in the memorandum of action will be faithfully implemented by the federal government.

Finally, he urged members of the union to resume duties from Thursday 10th of June, 2021.
