The Concerned North-East Youths (CNEY), said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s commendation of military troops deployed for counter-insurgency operation in the North East, is a vote of confidence in the leadership of Nigerian Armed Forces.
CNEY, in a press release issued yesterday, said the commendation comes at a time the Gen. Leo Irabor-led Nigerian Armed Forces is putting in the necessary efforts to quash insecurity in the country.
A Federal Government delegation led by the Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd), had visited the headquarters of the Theatre Command in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Sunday.
Gen. Magashi, during the visit, commended the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole (OLD) for combating insurgents in the north-eastern.
The Minister, said that President Buhari appreciates their performance.
CNEY Secretary, Tijani Gombe, who signed their group’s release, noted that despite the antics of insurgents, Nigerian troops have remained determined to restore peace in the North-East.
He said that President Buhari has been adequately briefed of ongoing military operations, and his appreciation is a morale booster to the troops.
“We in CNEY notes the message of appreciation from President Muhammadu Buhari, it is a vote of confidence in the present leadership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
“We therefore call on them not to rest on their oars as they pursue restoration of peace not only in the North-East, but in every place their is unrest in the country.
“We also appeal to Nigerians to continue to support our troops as they daily make sacrifices for the love of our country.
“We also salute the leadership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their determination.”
