The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru has charged the Nigerian Army Officers Wives’ Association (NAOWA) to expand its scope by seeking for partnership with its counterparts in India and other foreign countries to attract more benefits for the association.
He gave the charge when members of NAOWA ,led by its National President ,Mrs. Fati Attahiru paid him a courtesy call in Abuja.
Gen Attahiru explained that the collaboration of the Association with their foreign counterpart will woe more people oriented programmes for the benefit of its members.
“I intend to put NAOWA activities on the global stage.
“In this regard, I want NAOWA to start international collaboration first by visiting India and countries that will be of benefit to the association.”
According the COAS, he had initiated some discussions with his Indian counterpart to acquire more knowledge and experience in steering the affairs of the Association.
“Therefore, I have had discussion with my counterpart the chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army for members of NAOWA to visit India to see what their own sister organisation is doing with a view to learning a few things that will improve the activities of NAOWA.”
Earlier, the President of NAOWA, Mrs Fati Attahiru, noted that they were in Army Headquarters to seek for ways to strengthen the existing synergy between the Nigerian Army and the association.
Mrs Attahiru whole highlighting some of her vision as the leader of NAOWA noted that he hope to improve the living conditions of the members to be self reliant both economically and healthcare delivery and solicited for the COAS’s support.
Mrs Attahiru therefore solicited for more support from Nigerian Army, for the realisation of her vision for the organisation.
